The training programme certifies and enables professionals to conduct individual or group therapy, through the use of Art Therapy and Dance Movement Therapy. The study curriculum integrates psychoanalytical approach, regarding specifically the study of the origins and the nature of the creative process, with Art Therapy and Dance Movement Therapy’s theory and technique. Understanding the interdependence that exists between the creative process and the therapeutic process is one of the major topics of study and research practiced through workshops and practical seminars. The sign, gestures, movement and trace are the elected vehicles of therapeutic communication through which lived experiences and emotions assume body and form. Artistic language and discourse of both art and dance are instrument of analysis and intervention. The training to become Art Therapist or Dance Movement Therapist asks of its students to develop their knowledge in the clinical field as well as to open up their creative capabilities.
During the training period theoretical knowledge is broadened and integrated with direct experience to which the student exposes her/himself during theoretical and practical seminars as well as his/her own work experience. The candidate is stimulated to develop his/her own aesthetic sensibility and the ability of listening to one’s rational and intuitive thinking.
